Private ADHD Titration

There is currently a nationwide shortage of medication that helps to treat adhd titration meaning symptoms. This is due to manufacturing issues and the growing demand for ADHD medications worldwide.

Titration

A highly experienced consultant psychiatrist will conduct a thorough assessment of your ADHD. This includes a medical history and an assessment using the common ADHD rating scales and questionnaires.

After your assessment After your assessment, you will be informed that medication may be beneficial for your specific situation. If you decide to begin medication, we will offer you the option of titrating your dose to maximize the benefits/side effects balance for you.

This is a process which can take several weeks, and involves adjusting your child's medication gradually until the appropriate balance is achieved. It's not uncommon to have to titrate as high as three different medicines until you discover the one that best suits your child's ADHD. Parents must take part in this process of titration and keep a close watchful eye on their child's behavior to inform the doctor whether the medication is helping or causing adverse effects.

If you decide to go back to NHS treatment, you will receive an individual prescription for your medication. You will be required to pay at the pharmacy. This is not included in the consultation fee. You'll be required to attend regular appointments every six months to monitor your medication - this includes pulse and blood pressure readings. Annual reviews are also required.

Follow-up appointments

After the assessment is complete, you can schedule follow-up appointments with your psychiatrist. Typically, the appointment will take place via a zoom video call however in some instances it may be possible to do an audio only consultation (again at an additional cost).

At this point we will discuss any treatment options we have and come up with a unique ADHD medication titration strategy. This will include a review of your medication dose and a discussion of any possible negative side effects you may be experiencing. The cost for these titration sessions is PS150 for face-to-face sessions and PS60 for online or telephone video consultations. Costs for medication are extra and are paid directly to the pharmacy.

If you are unsure of which one you prefer, we suggest that you speak with your GP before booking your private examination as some providers have different policies about whether they require the submission of a GP referral letter or not. Find out if your GP accepts the Shared Care Agreement, which means you will be referred to them after you leave the clinic to get a medication prescription.

Medication
