Best Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

The best method to keep your home tidy is to use a robotic vacuum. It can pick up dust, pet hair and other debris on surfaces.

Some robots can sync with smart assistants like Alexa or Google Assistant to provide a hands-free environment. Look for models that recharge and resume cleaning the area they left.

1. iRobot s8

This smart robot vacuum and mop combination is an excellent option for a wide range of homes. It can be used to vacuum and mop and is extremely navigable using both GPS and laser sensors, and offers a broad range of features and controls that are accessible through the app. It comes with a useful feature that lets you create Cleaning zones in areas that require extra attention, as well as Keep Out zones in areas where you don't wish it to go. Like all Roomba devices, it gets new software updates that make it even more efficient over time.

It's expensive, but it's also among the most advanced robot vacuums ZDNet has evaluated. It is rarely derailed or stuck during a cleaning process. In my tests, it was the best robot vacuum mop combo in avoiding objects such as power cables. It is not as accurate at detecting pet waste or other hazards.

2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8

Eufy, owned by Anker It has become an iconic name in the world of low-cost robot vacuums. However, it didn't provide a model that could also mop. That changes with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive array of modern features and can compete well with more expensive models.

Laser navigation is the main selling point of this machine. The X8 utilizes the laser mapping system, which is more precise than previous Eufy devices. It takes less time to build an extensive map of your home. It also has the ability to store multiple maps. This is perfect for multi-floored homes.

The X8 is still a good vacuum for floors that are not clean, slinging debris under its side brushes and into its 400ml dust bin with ease. The Tyres of the X8, despite their circular shape, are very good in grabbing corners and edges. It's not a great kitty litter picker, though our tests have shown it only removes about 90 percent of the fur off hard floors.

The basic mopping mode utilizes the same reservoir of water as the vacuuming mode. This is great for spills that are not too dangerous, but you are unable to regulate the amount of water that it uses. It does, however, do an admirable job of picking up pet hair, with a better speed of pickup than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, efficient appliances. It is a stunning design, a great navigation system and an impressive cleaning power. It has some oddities in its operation that keep it from being named the top smart robot vacuum.

Like the latest models from iRobot like the RX2 features a dual-sensor mapping system that utilizes an LIDAR sensor to map out the space and a pair of 3D scanning cameras to identify and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real time. After the room has been mapped, you can assign virtual no go areas and preferred sections to the robot. You can also begin cleaning manually or change the cleaning mode, see a live feed from the onboard cameras and more from the main screen.

The RX2 is equipped with excellent sensors that can identify furniture and other obstructions in a flash. Its sweeping and suction power are top-of-the-line and cleans up surface debris from carpets with medium piles and dust on floors that are unfinished. It's not the fastest robotics available. It's not the most efficient climber and has issues with transition strips made of metal.

Many people purchase a robot vacuum to enjoy the convenience of setting a schedule on an app and not thinking about it for weeks at an time. It's important for a robot able to do the job so our ZDNet staff has tested and reviewed some of the most popular models to help you select the right one for your home.

4. Shark ION

This round, budget robovac looks just like a typical robot, but it's an upgrade in performance and features. Its smart mapping system creates 3D and 2D maps of your house and uses them to navigate around and stay clear of obstructions. It can even identify common obstacles like furniture legs and power cords in real-time. This combination of sensors along with a bump detector, and an infrared sensor that keeps the vacuum away from stairs makes it one of our most flexible vacuums.

It was able to walk over the thick shag carpets and didn't get stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s, or Postmaster.max1121.net/bbs/board.php?bo_table=humor&wr_id=126903 Roomba 690-). Its navigation abilities were also impressive. Its composite score for flooring and carpet was higher than the competition, and it picked up 98.5 percent of the surface litter and embedded dog hair that we tested in our lab samples.

The controls are simpler than the competitors. There's a clean button at the top and you can choose to start it using the app or by voice commands using Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule weekly or daily cleanings, create no-go zones and view its history of cleaning. Clad in smart dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and looks attractive in your home. Its rear dustbin is accessible for emptying, and taking out the filters is also a breeze.

5. Eufy 11S

If you're looking for a basic low-cost robot vacuum for a reasonable cost, the Eufy11S is a great option. This model lacks some smart features such as Alexa integration and digital mapping that are found in more expensive models. If you don't need these features, you could save money.

This robot is very easy to setup and use. It does not require a smartphone app or Wi-Fi pairing, but it does have a remote control that lets you choose between various modes and adjust the suction level. You can also set up a manual schedule to set the robotvac to a cleaning schedule.

During our tests, we discovered that the 11S was extremely effective at cleaning dirt and fur from carpets with low pile and hard floors. Its slim profile made it possible to pass under furniture that is low-hanging and other items that some larger robots are unable to reach. It could also easily traverse door thresholds and move from one type of Floor Scrubbing robot to another.

The 11S, as with other robots, will also eat some objects, such as cords and cat toys. The manufacturer suggests you avoid this by keeping these objects off the ground and using a cord organiser when you can. It also suggests that you periodically clean the dustbin, replace the filters and change or wash the brushes as necessary.

6. IRobot Roomba 990

The Roomba 980 is iRobot's most popular robot vacuum. It's costly however it's an excellent performer and, in some ways, the most advanced robot vacuum you can buy. Its self-navigation and environmental mapping is something to behold. It is more sophisticated in its automation than most of its competitors, including the capability to set up virtual boundary markers using its mobile application. While its application is a bit slow and the 980 can spin out a bit while crossing cables, it's still a very capable robot vacuum.

We love the 980, because it makes use of its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors and visual simultaneity localisation and mapping (or [Redirect-Java] vSLAM) to store your home's floor plan. It will use this data to create a consistent, efficient cleaning path through each cycle. The result is cleaner floors, and a more efficient vacuum than most competing high-end robot vacuums.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes that grab dirt on carpets and hard floors and a spinning brush to sweep debris into the robotic vacuum’s bin. Its floor tracking sensors aid it navigate across furniture and along edges, and Cliff Detect keeps the Roomba from slipping down stairs. It will automatically return to its base station to ensure hassle-free recharging between sessions. While the 980's battery life and bin size aren't as impressive as other robot vacuums it's a solid and reliable machine that will keep your floors clean for hours at a time.
