World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE damage.

For example a weapon that has the upgrade template that ends in % will gain 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item upgrader kit's level. The cost increases with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a boost in stats or to add an additional effect. They can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on equipment with a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue before a component can be applied. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once and cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component that is that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it's possible that the item will eventually become obsolete, or even break, in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful. Glyphs
